Screen-printed transfer is a textile marking technique that consists of printing a design on transfer paper before heat-pressing it onto a garment. Recognized for its fineness, flexibility, and wash resistance, it is ideal for monochrome logos, sports markings, neon colors, as well as gold and silver metallic finishes. What is a screen printing transfer made of?

A screen-printed transfer consists of multiple layers printed on transfer paper. The design is created using screen-printing inks, to which a heat-adhesive powder is added to bond the transfer to the fabric during pressing. Once applied with heat, the marking sets permanently on the garment while maintaining excellent flexibility and outstanding wash resistance.

Is screen printing transfer suitable for all types of textiles?

Screen printing transfer is compatible with a wide variety of textiles, including:
- Cotton textiles, very suitable thanks to their resistance to heat.
- Polyester and synthetic blends, as long as the temperature is well controlled to avoid any risk of burns.
- Technical textiles such as SoftShell, such as stretch or waterproof fabrics, provided that specific transfers designed for these textiles are used.
However, it is not recommended for certain fabrics that are very sensitive to heat or with a particularly marked texture (very thick fleece, certain coated textiles, etc.). It is always best to carry out a test beforehand.

What are the ideal conditions for a good installation?

To ensure an efficient and durable application of a screen printing transfer, it is essential to respect a few key parameters. First of all, the temperature must be precisely controlled, usually between 120° and 150°C, depending on the textile and the type of transfer used. A homogeneous pressure, neither too low nor excessive, ensures good adhesion of the transfer to the substrate. The application time, often varying between 8 and 15 seconds depending on the material, must be scrupulously respected. Finally, after installation, it is important to let the textile cool down in order to peel off the cold transfer. The preparation of the textile is also crucial: it must be perfectly clean, dry, and flattened to eliminate any irregularities that could compromise the adhesion of the transfer. What are the advantages of screen-printed transfers?

Screen printing transfer has a strong resistance over time and a competitive cost for large series. Among the main advantages of screen printing:
Color accuracy: Pantone colors (for monochrome only), vivid, opaque and faithful
Excellent resistance to washing: ideal for frequent or professional use.
Adaptability to many media: clothing, accessories, technical textiles such as Softshell.
Economic profitability for medium and large series.

What is the minimum quantity for a screen printing transfer to be financially attractive?

Screen printing becomes economically interesting from medium series, generally around 20 to 50 pieces minimum to start being profitable. The technique is particularly advantageous from 100 units.
For small quantities, other techniques such as DTF transfer are often more suitable financially.
